UCCA Edge, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Visual Arts Commission, presents this exhibition—the first major institutional solo exhibition in China by renowned Saudi artist Ahmed Mater (b. 1979, Tabuk, Saudi Arabia; lives and works in Riyadh). This marks the first large-scale presentation of a Saudi artist’s work in China.

Bringing together over 100 works created by Mater to date, the exhibition offers a comprehensive review of his insightful artistic practice through his major series and landmark creations. It highlights his deep exploration of form and subject matter and his reflections on the social and historical transformations captured through the lens of Saudi Arabia’s dynamic contemporary art scene.

Alongside the exhibition, dialogues and public programs will further engage audiences, providing multidimensional insights into the development of contemporary Saudi art and culture.
